Ever since I had autonomous access to a computer (around 9, I'd say), I spend a lot of my free time watching TV shows and films.
Even though my first choices were not the most appropriate for a kid (I'm looking at you Emergency and Desperate houswives), I just fell in love with those formats.
I love being able to switch from one bubble of art style, narration type, tropes, to another one. By the time I was 19, I watched 86 TV shows yes I counted.
Sure, being an artist also implies that I spend a lot of time sat at my desk, so it helps finding the time to deep dive into films and series while drawing/painting/sewing.

A profondly sweet and humane TV show
An american football coach gets recruted by a soccer (or football, as us european people say) club on the other side of the pond even tho he doesn't know a thing about this sport. Ted Lasso went under my radar for a while because I don't have much interest in football. But when my girlfriend sat me through the first episode, I was instantly hooked. (Almost) every character is loveable, funny, witty. As everybody in the show, you can't help but fall in love with Ted for his sweet and relatable nature. It's not a sport show. there's little to no strategy involved, you don't see much of the training nor the matches. But it is, at its very core a TV-show about a team. Players, trainers, kit men, journalists, administrators, fans, families, us viewers... Everyone is part of the team. Go Richmond !

When everyone merges but you
One day everything changes... And everyone around you becomes one. Pluribus follows Carol, a disillusioned romance writer whose world just turned upside down, she seems to be the singularity. This TV show, made me feel something I haven't felt for a while : the urge to take notes after every episode. So much things to talk about, so many references to other things, so many theories. The show was crafted so well. The slow pace really allow us to see the changes alongside Carol, to empathize with her despite her silly "karen-ish" attitude at first, to feel her grief, her anger, her hope. And how she faces her loneliness, when everybody else feels like an sickly happy amalgam of thoughts and knowledge without identity. We see her find the clues and we can't help but try to find some ourselves. How could the world possibly go back to normal now ? Are we seeing the last breath of a survivor on the verge of sweet assimilation ? I NEED more episodes!! If it was a song, it'd be : Time is running out by Muse.

Belonging in the wierdest places
Luz is an outcast among her peers; she is witty, quirky and likes the weirdest things. The day her mom decides to send her to a "rehabilitation camp for whimsical teens" she stumbles across a door that leads to a fantasy world. A world even grosser and funnier than she could ever imagine. In this show we follow her journey with her new friends (and enemies ?), and her new house (and its fabulous demon, Hooty, a worm-owl-guardian). I show the Owl House every time someone asks me if I know something sweet and light but that can also make you feel big feelings. It is one of my dearest comfort show. Not only because it portrays realistic LGBTQIA+ identities and relationships, but because it handles subjects that are dear to my heart : the concept of "belonging somewhere", building a village of likeminded people, understanding who we are, our limits, our dreams, where we came from and where we want to go. If it was a song, it'd be : You've got a friend in me by Randy Newman.

Fives hearts for a bunch of love
In a city where everybody knows everbody, we follow 3 distinct characters: Cameron the newcomer with a personal quest, Tova an older woman who prefers the quietness of the night, and Marcellus the octopus whose tank they have to clean (and narrator of the story). Despite their different lifestyles, they get to know each other while taking care of the aquarium and all its inhabitants. Unbeknownst to them, the octopus also gave himself the mission of taking care of them. The story was so sweet and heartwarming (and a little heartbreaking) yet so funny. Everybody seems lost, but I wish I could be as unapologetic as Tova, as friendly as Cameron, and as courageous and wise as Marcellus. This film is sincerly gorgeous, it put life at it center, and it shows. I cried my eyes out, but with big smiles (I have been accused of being an easy crier). I don't know how it compares to the book, but it sure is a film to watch. If it was a song, it'd be : Wriggle by Cosmo Sheldrake.
